Ridgeline Trail in San Marcos is finally opening on Friday October 15th! The trailhead is located at 212 San Elijo Road, about two miles south of Hwy 78 on Twin Oaks Valley Road. (for those of you who don’t know, Twin Oaks Valley Rd turns into San Elijo Road.)
Ridgeline has some cool features that you don’t find at most trailheads like:
Horse trailer parking, Shaded picnic tables, Bicycle racks & Horse tie rails.
Not to mention the unobstructed views of South Lake (a future city park location). The Ridgeline trail give you access to the Lakeview and Double Peak Park. (on a clear day Double Peak Park has spectacular views of the coastline)
There’s a couple loops you can take from Ridgeline. You can take the five-mile loop down to Discovery Lake and then back up Twin Oaks Valley Road OR a slightly shorter route up to Double Peak Park using the Double Peak Trail and back down the Secret Trail.
Great place to hike with more 56 miles of existing trails on the multi-use trail system. All of which are available for hiking, biking, running & horseback riding. Definitely the outdoor enthusiasts playground.
Park is open from Sunrise to Sunset.
