Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. Located on 4th Street & Encinitas Blvd. Swimming, Surfing & Fishing are the typical things you can do at this beach. But there’s also plenty of room at this wide sandy beach to play volleyball. Not to mention that you’ll find tennis courts, recreational equipment rentals and a snack bar (open in summer only)
How did “Moonlight” get its name? Back in the early 1900’s locals would host midnight picnics on the beach hence the name.
