Cardiff State Beach is just South of Birmingham Drive in Cardiff. This beach has a paid parking lot, so don’t forget to pay because the park rangers will fine you.
The beach allows camping & dogs on leashes. Great place to spend the day walking on the sand & ending it with a meal at the Beach House where you can watch the sunset.
This beach is most known for the “Surfing Kook” that the city had commissioned to pay homage to the local surfers. However, this bronze sculpture is in a somewhat unnatural surfing pose & loathed by the local surfers & community in general.
In fact, often times people will decorate the sculpture & the most recent being of the bronze surfer being eaten by a Great White Shark.
