The Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum is unique from a traditional museum in that the collection is maintained in operating condition & used during events. 2010 marks 34 years the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum has been in Vista which takes up about 55 acres.The nature of the Museum’s programs are to evoke nostalgic memories of rural lifestyles and family traditions.
Every year they have about a thousand volunteers help with the museum operations. The collections of over 20,000 pieces focus on the eras from 1849 through the early 1960’s with exhibits that actively demonstrate the farm equipment and tools.
The museum also offers educational programs from pre-school through college internship studies. Every Saturday from 9-1pm, Blacksmithing is taught and demonstrated from beginning through advance classes.
Plus, many pieces of this historical equipment has been used in television & productions like, Stargate, Muholland Falls, LA Confidential, Pearl Harbor, the HBO Series Carnivale, Tremors 4 and The Time Machine; just to name a few.
