Mello Roos, an assement on property at the APN level, are ubiquitous in San Diego County. As such, it is difficult to research which homes are obilgated to which CFDs. To solve the Mello Roos research issue, our County Assesor/Recorder/Clerk Ernest J. Dronenburg Jr. has built from scratch the first database of it’s kind in California.
Mello Roos Information is ground zero online for all of San Diego County. You can initiate research with a street address or Assessor’s Parcel Number. The first step is finding the APN you wish to query. The Assessor built the first tool to correlate a street address to APN. Once the APN is in hand, you can access the fees assessed onto your target property.
Once you have the ID numbers of fees and CFDs you can use this list to contact your city for more information. At the bottom of each city is a link to that city. San Marcos has the best page in the county, with direct links to maps, maturity dates and maximum fees.

All of this is public information, and we are happy to report that our officials are working to make this process cost effective and efficient. The Assessor returned $2,000,000 from last years budget, and is working to increase his office’s productivity!
